Chris Gentle

Director

Chris has over fifteen years experience working at a strategic level within the spatial industry for both private and government sectors, specializing in developing and executing strategic geospatial information management programs.
Chris has extensive knowledge of location based systems and has a proven track record in delivering both program and project outcomes.

Prior to founding Mercury PS Chris was a Director of NGIS Australia leading a team in undertaking many program and project consulting engagements.

Mining sector assignments include leading a team to develop a global Exploration Data Access Vision and Strategy for Rio Tinto Exploration and undertaking the Program Director role for the award winning BHP Billiton Location Data Systems integration projects. Energy sector assignments include acting as a project consultant to ConocoPhillips for the SAWD GGRE Spatial Integration Project and undertaking a Spatial Information Structural Review for Chevron ASBU.

Public sector assignments undertaken by Chris include creating a five year spatial information strategy for the Water Corporation of Western Australian, developing a three year spatial information strategy for the State of New South Wales (CS2i) and leading a project to identify & assess options for Landgate (Western Australia) to undertake core Land Registry Systems refreshment.

Over eighteen months Chris was influential in assisting the Western Australian Department of Land Information in assisting to develop their business model and account framework and assisting in their transition from a Department of State towards a Statutory Authority. This role also involved leading the initial development of the whole of government Shared Land Information Platform which features as part of the e-Government strategy for Western Australia.

Chris has worked for several leading consulting groups including nearly five years as an Associate leading the Perth based Information Management consulting team for EPCM engineering contractor Sinclair Knight Merz. Chris was a graduate into mining firm CRA (Rio Tinto) Exploration.

Chris has undergraduate qualifications in Geography from the University of Western Australia, a Graduate Diploma in Technology Management and a Masters in Business Administration from Deakin University.
